Their strong focus on providing value to the customers is remarkable. They are also easy to start with and have plain pricing rules unlike other vendors, who seemed very defensive and required multiple interviews to get the quote.
Workflow Platform Implementation: From Concept to Live Process in 3 Months
OUTCOMES
Results of partnership
3 Months
Rapid MVP deployment of the process and team training at Zencargo in workflow automation.
2 Core Implementations
Deployment of the Camunda platform and a proprietary Digital Banking Platform solution.
15 Workflows
By the end of Q3 2022, the Zencargo team independently built 15 automated processes supporting logistics operations.
PROJECT
Genesis and business expectations
Zencargo – a global logistics operator – approached us with the need to select a tool for streamlining and automating internal operational processes. The goal of the project was to implement a scalable BPM platform to support the organisation’s growth through workflow-driven operations.
The scope of collaboration included the implementation of Camunda Community Edition, extended with Altkom Software’s proprietary solution – the Digital Banking Platform – enabling centralised process management, monitoring, and analytics. The project also included consulting and training activities aimed at developing Zencargo’s in-house capabilities in business process automation and ensuring effective use of the deployed technology.

Who have we helped?
Zencargo is a digital forwarding agent and logistics service provider. Zencargo’s private-label platform allows clients to book, manage and track international freight shipments, as well as consult a range of analytics to take informed supply chain decisions.
Business challenges
Zencargo defined three main goals for the project:
- Implementation of the Camunda process platform, along with the adaptation of the solution to the Zencargo microservices architecture;
- Construction of an MVP covering one business process, implemented and connected to the proprietary Zencargo platform, used to support supply chains;
- Communication between Camunda and the Zencargo solution was to take place via the Apache Kafka message broker.

Scope and delivery model
Zencargo began working with Altkom Software during the technology assessment phase, considering whether to choose Camunda Community or the Enterprise edition. A key factor in selecting the open-source version was the availability of Altkom’s proprietary extension – the Digital Banking Platform (DBP) – which significantly enhances process monitoring and management capabilities. Following a series of consultations, the client opted to implement Camunda Community 7, supported by DBP, with a long-term plan for gradual platform scaling.
The project began with the integration of Camunda into the client’s existing CI/CD pipeline and close collaboration with the DevOps team. Once the environment was set up, analytical workshops were held to define and model the core business process forming the foundation of the MVP. Communication between Camunda and Zencargo’s platform was handled via Apache Kafka, and the developed components were designed for reusability in future deployments.
In the next phase, DBP was implemented. The final stage involved launching the first fully functional workflow in the production environment. Based on this foundation, Zencargo’s team was able to independently develop further workflows using a low-code approach.
